Serpentine Books presents:

Introducing Moxie

In 1876, Dr. Augustin Thompson began selling a new patent medicine out of Lowell Massachusetts. In 1884, he added carbonation to the drink and called it ‘Moxie Nerve Food’ and ever since then it has become a soda staple of New England. Can you believe at one time it even outsold Coca-Cola!? That is quite a feat to imagine in today’s day and age.

At 11 AM on June 15th, come see a free presentation on the history of Moxie by Dennis Sasseville and Merrill Lewis, the authors of the newly published book in the ‘Images of America’ series titled “Moxie”. There will a book signing to follow, along with taste testings of Moxie and homemade Moxie that Dow’s Soda Fountain produces. Moxie Ice Cream Floats along with Moxie gear / collectibles will also be available at the event. If you are a Moxie enthusiast, then come and share your love of the famed beverage! The event is co-sponsored with the New England Moxie Congress.
