Oscar Shorts 2020: Animation

January 31 @ 7:35 pm - 8:58 pm

For over a decade, ShortsTV has proudly brought the Oscar® Nominated Short Films to audiences across the globe.

This exclusive release features the year’s most spectacular short films and for a limited time is available to watch on the big screen.

Each nominee is released in one of three distinct feature-length compilations according to their category of nomination: Live Action, Animation or Documentary.

Animation Nominees:

Hair Love – Matthew A. Cherry, USA, 7 min.

Dcera (Daughter) – Daria Kashcheeva, Czech Republic, 15 min.

Memorable – Bruno Collet, France, 12 min.

Sister – Siqi Song, China/USA, 8 min.

Kitbull – Rosana Sullivan, USA, 9 min.

PLUS A SELECTION OF ADDITIONAL ANIMATED SHORTS:

Henrietta Bulkowski – USA, 16 min. (featuring the voices of Chris Cooper and Ann Dowd!)

The Bird and the Whale – Ireland, 6 min.

Hors Piste – France, 5 min.

The themes tackled in this year’s Animated program are quite heavy – the death of a parent, Alzheimer’s, China’s one child policy, and more. The program overall is rather melancholy, and while there’s nothing especially objectionable within, most of these shorts will not appeal to children under 12, at all. The films are all very good, but adult audiences will appreciate them much more than kids.

Important Coronavirus Update:

An Important Message from Mill No. 5:

After monitoring the Coronavirus situation we’ve come to the conclusion that it is our responsibility to be proactive leaders in our community. It is clear that the recommendation to practice social distancing and to avoid large gatherings is essential to slowing the spread of the infection, which is the key to avoiding the overwhelm on the medical system that many countries are now facing.

This being said, we also acknowledge the hardships that small businesses and entrepreneurs will face as more and more events and spaces close.

It is clear that the situation will change, and that we will need to be constantly monitoring, communicating and adjusting plans. For now, this is our plan:

Coffee and Cotton will remain open. We will expand on our serve safe practices with extended sanitization of surfaces. We will have to continuously monitor this decision as well.

-The Shops will be open based on their own individual preferences. Please check in with your favorite shops to see what hours they will be keeping.

-The Farm Market will run as a limited event. We understand that the farmers and producers rely heavily on market sales, and that many of our customers depend on the food they purchase on Sundays. We will re-evaluate this decision daily and work on precautions and sanitary procedures as well.

A Little Bazaar, The Luna Theater and Dows will be closed for the remainder of the month of March

If you would like to support Mill No. 5 during these difficult times, you can purchase an e-gift card which can be used at Coffee and Cotton, Dows Soda Fountain, and The Luna Theater.
