There Is No Excuse For Abuse

October is Domestic Violence Awareness month and our partnership with Alternative House has been rescheduled for three Saturdays in November, due to unfortunate elevator problems these past few weeks.

Aimee Larochelle is the Manager of Residential and Community Connections and she, along with her staff, will hold a pop-up outreach shop in The Parlor on the 4th floor to bring the work of the center to the community on November 12th, 19th and 26th, from 12:00 to 4:00 PM. The mission of Alternative House is to facilitate the creation of a society in which violence and oppression will no longer exist.

Alternative House is a domestic violence nonprofit located in Lowell. Their services provide help and support to the surrounding communities with two residential houses, emergency shelters, a transitional house and an outreach office with a supervised visitation center. A high-risk team works with the police department and they have a 24 hour hotline where staff is always available to help with their services to anyone in need, regardless of gender or sexual orientation.

A small selection of poems written by survivors and artwork created by the children who live within their community will be on display. There will be outreach information for those who may want to get involved. If you or someone you know is in need of DV support, please call their 24 hour support line. 978-454-1436
